Services & Facilities

Comprehensive Veterinary Services

We provide a comprehensive range of veterinary services for dogs, cats, and small pets, supported by modern diagnostic and surgical facilities.

Most conditions seen in first-opinion practice can be investigated and treated on site, meaning we can care for the majority of pets without referral. When more complex procedures are required, we have access to additional expertise and specialist equipment.

Services

Our veterinary consultations provide a thorough assessment of your pet’s health, behaviour, and overall wellbeing. During a health check, our experienced veterinarians will examine your pet from nose to tail. Whether it’s a routine check-up or a specific health issue, we’re here to ensure your pet stays happy and healthy.

We offer a full range of vaccinations tailored to your pet’s age, lifestyle, and risk factors, helping to safeguard against serious illnesses. Our parasite prevention plans include treatments for fleas, ticks, worms, and other common threats, keeping your pet healthy and your home safe. Regular protection ensures peace of mind for you and long-term wellbeing for your pet.

Our practice offers a wide range of surgical procedures, from routine operations to more complex interventions. Every procedure is carried out with the highest standards of care, using modern techniques and equipment to ensure your pet’s safety. We provide thorough pre-operative assessments and attentive post-operative care, supporting your pet’s recovery every step of the way.

For specialised surgical needs, we work closely with a visiting veterinary surgeon who brings advanced expertise in orthopaedic and complex soft-tissue procedures. This allows us to offer high-level care for conditions that require more intricate surgical intervention, all within the comfort and familiarity of our practice. Your pet benefits from expert treatment without the stress of referral travel.

Comprehensive dental care services, including routine check-ups, professional cleaning, and treatment for oral conditions. Using advanced equipment such as digital dental x-rays, we can detect hidden issues below the gumline and provide accurate, effective treatment.

These leading-edge tools allow us to examine your pet’s internal structures with clarity and precision, helping us detect issues early and plan effective treatment.

Our in-house laboratory allows us to perform a wide range of diagnostic tests quickly and efficiently. From blood work and urine analysis to microscopic examinations, we can gather vital health information during your visit. Rapid results mean faster diagnosis and treatment, helping us provide the best possible care for your pet without delay.

Our nurses run regular clinics to support your pet’s health between vet visits. These appointments are ideal for preventive care, health checks, and practical help with day-to-day treatments.

Typical nurse clinic services include:

  •      Nail clipping and ear cleaning
  •      Anal gland expression
  •      Post-operative checks and suture removal
  •      Flea, worm, and tick treatment administration
  •      Blood pressure monitoring and sampling
  •      Weight management and dietary advice
  •      Dental hygiene and home-care support
  •      Diabetes and medication reviews
  •      Senior pet health checks
  •      Laser therapy for wound healing and chronic pain
  •      Puppy, kitten, and adolescent health appointments
  •      Routine health plan reviews

Our nurses work closely with the veterinary team to provide ongoing support and advice, helping to detect changes early and keep pets in good condition throughout life.

Our nursing team provides pregnancy diagnosis ultrasound scans for dogs and cats, led by a nurse with a particular interest and experience in this area. Ultrasound is a safe and non-invasive way to confirm pregnancy and assess early development, and most pets tolerate the procedure very well with gentle handling.

Pregnancy scans are usually performed from around 28 days after mating. Scanning earlier than this can lead to false negative results, so correct timing is important. Ultrasound can help identify a viable pregnancy, but it is not a reliable method for predicting final litter size. Foetuses can be hidden or repositioned during the scan, so numbers should always be treated as estimates.

If we see anything unexpected during the scan, or if you have questions about your pet’s health, one of our veterinary surgeons will review the images and discuss next steps with you. This ensures that any concerns about wellbeing, development or potential complications are addressed promptly and accurately.

How our facilities support your pet’s care

Our facilities are designed to manage everything from routine appointments to complex investigations and surgery. Digital x-ray and ultrasound allow us to diagnose many conditions quickly and accurately — from bone injuries and arthritis to heart, abdominal, and reproductive disease. Our in-house laboratory can analyse blood and urine samples during the same visit, allowing faster diagnosis and treatment planning.

Surgical facilities include a dedicated operating theatre with diathermy and modern monitoring equipment to ensure safety under anaesthetic. With the support of a visiting surgeon, we can perform many orthopaedic and soft-tissue operations on site, reducing the need for referral and keeping your pet’s care with a familiar team.

Dental care is a vital part of overall health. Dental disease isn’t just about bad breath — it’s painful, even if pets rarely show obvious signs of discomfort. The same bacteria that cause gum infection can enter the bloodstream and affect organs such as the heart, liver, and kidneys. Regular dental checks and professional cleaning under anaesthetic help prevent these complications and keep pets comfortable.

At Neighbourhood Vet Gosport we carry out ultrasonic scaling and polishing, extractions when required, and digital dental x-rays to identify disease below the gum line. Our team also provides practical guidance on home care to help maintain healthy teeth and gums between visits.

If a case is particularly complex or unusual, we may contact one of several trusted referral centres for advice. When a referral is appropriate, we work closely with specialists at Optivet (Havant), Southern Counties Veterinary Specialists (Ringwood), and Anderson Moores Veterinary Specialists (Winchester) to ensure your pet receives the best possible care. We handle the discussion, arrange the referral, and remain involved throughout so that continuity is never lost.
